Assists with the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the multi-disciplinary Physician Peer Review Program for Florida Hospital. The Performance Improvement Coordinator (PIC) assesses trended data and identifies opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Collaborates with Nursing, Medical, and Ancillary Departments to develop and implement improvement initiatives. The Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for fostering and promoting evidence-based practice and for disseminating research findings applicable to clinical practice. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s core values of Integrity, Care, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program booklet.
· Analyzes referred cases for review and accurately identifies Level I, II and III occurrences. Recognizes potential Sentinel Event and/or Code 15 occurrences.
· Completes each physician peer review within 180 days.
· Develops a review timeline by including appropriate components of the patient record in order to accurately and objectively convey the pertinent quality-of-care issues.
· Prepares for and participates in monthly department and service line peer review committees in collaboration with committee chair person by preparing timelines, agendas, minutes, and follow-up reports well in advance of the meeting.
Prepares and send letters of notification to involved physicians and department chairs.
· Prepares for and attends the Clinical Peer Review Committee meeting when necessary by preparing event summary, timeline, agenda, and minutes. Prepares and send letters of notification to involved physicians and department chairs.
· Collects, analyzes and reports data for intensified reviews of physician practice and for new procedures by utilizing appropriate data sources.
· Maintains and respects confidentiality of all peer review material and information.
· Prepares physician recredentialing and elevation reports prior to established deadlines.
· Provides department chairs with physician quality reports on a quarterly basis.
· Supports the team effort in accomplishing hospital and departmental goals, and resolves problems through defined department structure.
· Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth by attending pertinent PI conferences, seminars, and workshops to maintain and update knowledge base.
· Maintains proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the hospital is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
· Provides adequate notice to director prior to absence or lateness in accordance with hospital policy.
· Assumes responsibility for own time by ensuring that hours worked fall within the guidelines set up in position control.
· Displays a caring and courteous attitude and represents the hospital in a positive manner to all patients, family members, visitors, and hospital personnel as defined in the SHARE philosophies of the organization.
· Promotes and contributes positively to intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
· Adheres to departmental and hospital dress codes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Must be familiar with Windows-based computer applications such as Word and Outlook.

Responsible for providing nursing services and hyperbaric medicine treatments to both inpatients & outpatients of Florida Hospital. Provides care in accordance with accepted protocols relevant to physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs as appropriate to the age of the patient. Provides care on an emergency call basis in accordance with accepted protocols under the direction of Management and Medical Director. Responsible for providing care at the surface (sea level) as well as being the inside attendant, pressurized in the multiplace chamber, to depths as far as 165 fsw. Responsible for total patient care, wound debridement and dressing changes, venipunctures, etc.

Performs safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and system components such as, TcpO2 monitor, ventilator, and cardiac/pressure monitors.. Perform monoplace patient prep and Tx profile. Observes Best Practice guidelines/algorithms in the care of arterial, venous, neuropathic, and pressure ulcers. Understands the use of appropriate topical agents in support of wound healing. Performs treatments and administers medications. Identifies needs and plan of care. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions. Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the hyperbaric physician. Accurately administers medications such as: pressor and antiarrhythmic agents, cardiac drugs and antihypertensive drugs, pain management, antibiotics, and blood glucose control agents. Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities.

Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Maintain up-to-date information on NFPA, OSHA, JCAHO, and UHMS codes and facility credentialing requirements. Able to talk and hear while exposed to high gas pressurization with varying temperatures in a confined space. Exposure to high gas pressurization including increased levels of oxygen and nitrogen, therefore, ability to work may not be precluded by any inherent risk. Full-time, Day Position with variable days.
