Job Description:
Functions in the role of a circulator or scrub nurse as assigned.
- Is competent within all or assigned specialty areas
- Demonstrates knowledge base of all intraoperative surgical equipment
- Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment.
- Assists with orientation, training and education of new personnel and OR interns
- Provides perioperative-nursing care to surgical patients from neonate to geriatric

Performs patient assessment during the intraoperative surgical phase
- Able to identify individualized plan of care through the use of APIE. Performs age specific assessment of admission and throughout care, including physical, pain management, mental, emotional, social and spiritual needs
- Accurately gathers, interprets clinical data, lab values, signs/symptoms and makes appropriate nursing decisions and interventions relative to patient age
- Accurately monitors fluid management
- Demonstrates knowledge of temperature management, use of warming devices and potential complications.
- Identifies the need for patient teaching and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis.
