The following is a list of our Cardiac Medical nursing units:

The 2 East PCU is a 41-bed monitored Medical/Surgical Progressive Care Unit that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of multi-system health problems. Nurse Techs on this floor will care for patients with diverse conditions such as: Diabetes, Peripheral Vascular diseases, Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP), Post Surgical, and Congestive Heart Failure.

Our Cardiac Intervention Unit (CIU) has 53 inpatient beds. This Progressive care unit focuses on medical cardiology and specializes in cardiac intervention cases, which may include: angioplasty, arthrectomy, stent deployment, EPS studies, Congestive Heart Failure, Pacemakers, as well as, various pharmacologic interventions.

The Chest Pain Observation Unit (CPOU) is a 15-bed low risk chest pain unit, with the patient typically being admitted to the hospital from the ED for observation (24 hours or less) under medical management of our Florida Medical Observationalist Associates. Our physician's group works side-by-side with our nursing team on a daily basis.

The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) patients typically come from the ED for cardiac outpatient observation for an extended evaluation. They may also be the ED patient awaiting a PCU level bed. We also accept direct admissions and patients being transferred from other referring hospitals awaiting a PCU. This 18-bed unit stays very busy.

The Cardiac Respiratory Care Unit (CRCU) is a 12-bed cardiac ICU that cares for Cardiac-Post Cath, Respiratory, and Stable Ventilated patients.

Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is a 32-bed unit which is one of the largest in the Southeast and nation. The unit admits patients who may require invasive hemodynamic monitoring, specific cardiac care, and intra-aortic balloon pump therapy.

Job Description
The Senior Nurse Technician is one who assists the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care by performing specific tasks under the direction of an RN to identified age specific groups.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
Basic Life Support

Education and Experience Required:
Entered the final semester of professional nurse education with documented skills from the school of nursing. Proof of satisfactory completion of first semester course and skills and continued enrollment in Professional Nurse Education.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
May use the title “Nurse Technician until ATT” (authorization to Test) is granted or unsuccessfully written State Board exam two times after graduation. The employee may remain as a Nurse Tech only the above length of time and only if a position is available and the employee has satisfactory evaluations.
