The Rapid Response RN is a registered professional nurse with three years recent ICU experience who is responsible for providing direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities by responding to requests from available clinicians to intervene in the evaluation of the adult patient experiencing signs and/or symptoms of physiologic instability that are unresolved and/or of concern to clinicians providing care. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Critical Care RN Competency
• ACLS Certification
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• NIH (National Institute for Health) Stroke Scale Certification
• 12 Lead EKG Class Competency
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• College Degree in Nursing or related clinical discipline
• Minimum of three years recent ICU acute care clinical experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Triage and respond to request from clinicians
• Provide assistance to support clinicians in resolving clinical issues
• Assessment of the patient; call other members as needed
• Recommendation and coordination of interventions to stabilize clinical status using established protocol
• Assistance with communication among those involved in the patient’s care, including the family and physicians; provide education and support to those involved in the patient’s care.
• Contact physician immediately as needed to resolve clinical issues
• Communicate and assist with house supervisor if transfer to higher level of care is needed
• Work with assigned staff nurse and charge nurse and update with findings and intervention by documenting assessments and interventions as a PIER note.
