GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision the Transfer Center RN will be responsible for the flow process involved in call taking and facilitating acceptance and triage of calls thought the transfer center. Maintains accurate information in the Right Cad system for department STATS and FH regulatory compliance. Completes QA process of tape reviews for improvement of patient safety and outcomes. Supervises the Communication Specialist/Flight Dispatchers on their shift to ensure timely acceptance of patient transfer requests through the transfer center recorded lines. Communicates patient updates to physicians with appropriate triage of urgency. Initiates the hospital and physician chain of command when appropriate or if there are EMTALA concerns. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Critical Care Nursing
· Basic computer skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
· Transport Nursing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Graduate of a Registered Nursing Program.
· Minimum of 1 years experience in the Emergency Department/Critical Care (CVICU/ICU/CL/CCU/NICU).
· Minimum of 5 years of patient care.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
· BSN
· 3 years or more experience in a Critical Care Unit (CVICU/ICU/CL/CCU/NICU)
·
· PEDS experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· Current registration with the Florida State Board of Nursing.
· BLS/ACLS/PALS
LICENSURE OR REGISTRATRATION PREFERRED:
· Paramedic (EMT-P)
· Air Core Curriculum.
· NRP, TNCC
· CEN/CCRN
· CFRN
· Instructor status in one certification
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates, through behavior,
· Responsible for the flow process involved in call taking and facilitating acceptance and triage of calls thought the transfer center. Communicates patient updates to physicians and receiving units through the use of the recorded line for medical control
· Demonstrates specific knowledge in emergency care of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
· Completes timely accurate documentation of patient demographics and the transfer process in the Right Cad system for accuracy of department STATS and FH regulatory compliance.
· Completes the department processes of shift briefings, flight debriefing and QA of taped recording for improvement of patient safety and outcomes.
· Supervises Communication Specialist/Flight Dispatchers to ensure timely acceptance and accurate triage of transfer requests through the recorded lines.
· Follows templates for service line specifics and algorhythms of acceptance and denials of patient transfers/transports into and through out the FH system. Initiates the hospital and physician chain of command when appropriate or if there are EMTALA concerns.
· Proficiency in understanding and use of systems/equipments in the department to include but not limited to the EM system, Metro Site-OCF #, NICE recording system, Right Cad and GPS tracking.
