Education, Licensure & Certifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must hold a Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida, or actively be pursuing reciprocity from another state. Basic Life Support certification required; CNRN and ACLS a plus!

The Neuro Critical Care Unit is a 16 bed acute care unit. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:2. The patient population consists primarily of surgical patients, including spinal and brain surgeries, hemorrhagic pathologies, brain attack patients, medical neurological pathologies and seizures.

CVICU is a 28-bed post open heart intensive care unit. Our patients have had CABG, valve, Thoraco adominal, AAA or other type of vascular surgery. We are a recovery area and the patients are admitted to the unit, immediately post op. We make assignments according to patient acuity. We have 9 dedicated ORs and do an average of 2500 bypass cases per year. We have 16 surgeons and run off standing orders. We have Hewlett Packard Merlin Monitors with no central monitor, so nurses are responsible for staying at the bedside. We utilize Pleurovac and Emerson chest drainage systems and Gish cardiotomy reservoir for auto transfusion. Labs, x-rays, and ancillary services are ordered by computer. There is a satellite pharmacy and point of care lab open Monday through Friday 7a-11pm. Documentation is done on a tri-fold flow sheet with supplemental PIE charting. There is no mandatory OT in CVICU, but OT is available on an ongoing basis. We currently have full time, day shift openings on CVICU. Apply online and discover the possibilities at Florida Hospital. Our critical care units are areas where you can demonstrate your skill and compassion within the supportive and caring environment that Florida Hospital provides. The hospital supports nearly 600 critical care beds throughout all of the campuses, which allows our critical care nurses a variety of specialized units to work on. These units are range from ICU to PCU units that are specialized in cardiac, multi-system and much more. Florida Hospital is one of the nation’s top hospitals for nurses because of our specialties, come see why!

CVIII is a 16 bed vascular intensive care area, servicing fresh vascular surgical patients and complex cardiac surgical patients. Diagnoses include but are not limited to triple A's, fem-pops, carotids, CABG, Valve repairs and any thoracic surgical patients needing upper level care. The unit has a full time, Nurse Manager, four Assistant Nurse Managers covering days/nights, PCT assistance 24/7, and HUC coverage 7a-11p. Ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 depending upon the acuity of the patient. Educational support for staff is provided by a CV educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist. In addition, two preop educators are located on the unit to do bedside teaching for families and patients according to need. Staff has the opportunity to participate in the PPP (Professional Practice Program) similar to other hospitals with clinical ladders, train for relief charge duty and participate (if selected) to serve as preceptors and/or mentors for new nurses. The staff may also self-schedule. For nurses not trained in acute care, transitional education programs are available through Florida Hospital.

The CVIII Unit has been built within the past 5 years and has the latest in construction features. CVIII is connected to Florida Hospital Orlando via a new breezeway that has a visitor waiting room and private consultation room for families. Rooms are all private with glass sliding doors for maximum viewing of patients. Computers and desk top charting areas are available in each room for nursing documentation purposes. In addition, staff has access to a large staff lounge and private locker room.

Part time, Day Position. Minimum 1 year recent CVICU or 2 years minimum ICU experience required. Must have current Register Nurse Florida licensure.

· Must be motivated, organized able to perform multiple tasks in a timely manner and work efficiently under pressure.

· Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple clinical trials and function independently.

· Critical thinker and possesses an analytical approach to problem solving.

· Able to perform diverse clinical and clerical duties.

· Possesses a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet skills.

Education and Experience Required:

· Graduate of a school of nursing

· Minimum 6 years nursing experience with most recent 3 years in Oncology

· Current Chemo Certification

· BSN

· Prior Research experience

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:

· Current valid nursing license in the State of Florida

· Certification in Oncology nursing for RNs, OCN for those responsible for adult patients or CPON for those responsible for pediatric patients

· Certificate from Clinical Research professional organization (i.e., SOCRA, ACRP).

The Multisystem ICU features 28 beds divided into three separate areas. We are an interdisciplinary team that cares for a broad spectrum of patients with diagnoses ranging from Septic Shock – Acute Brain Attack- Thoracotomy- Acute Renal Failure etc. Many of our patients have multiple comorbidities. We are on a journey to Magnet certification and have an active Nurse Practice Council and ICU Collaborative Practice Team.

The RN is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
