This unit is comprised of patients who have experienced Brain Attacks, Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA) and other neurological disorders. The Neuro Medical Nurses work with a specialty trained team, including Neurologists, Interventional Radiologists and therapists to provide critical monitoring, assessments and treatments during the acute stages of illness. This specially-trained team compassionately supports patients and families with a focus on regaining cognitive and physical function. Here, you’ll provide patients with an educational plan to reduce risk factors for neurological disease, and collaborate with case managers to safely transition patients to rehabilitation or home care. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to become an expert in seizure disorders, as you care for patients admitted for advanced seizure monitoring.
Unit specifics include:
· 38-bed remote telemetry unit
· Opportunity to work for the area’s designated Stroke Center and the busiest stroke hospital in the state
· Evidence based practice
· Patient rooms supporting a calm, soothing environment
Position Specifics:
  • Full-Time, 72 hours a pay period (12 hour shifts)
  • Nights ,7p-7a (Every other Weekend required)
Position Requirements:
  • Graduate from School of Nursing (BSN Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse License in State of Florida
  • Basic Life Support (CNRN and ACLS preferred)
  • *1 year minimum, Primary Care (PCU) level experience (Neuro experience preferred)

The Neuro Critical Care Unit

The Neuro Critical Care Unit is a 16 bed acute care unit. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:2. The patient population consists primarily of surgical patients, including spinal and brain surgeries, hemorrhagic pathologies, brain attack patients, medical neurological pathologies and seizures.
