The following is a list of our Cardiovascular nursing units:

2MSU is our 52-bed Medical Specialty Unit provides care for patients with multiple medical disease processes and can also provide remote
telemetry for up to six patients. We work collaboratively with the Family Practice Residence Program to provide care for their patients.

On our 8 Tower - Multi-System/Vascular Progressive Care Unit we have 39 private beds and all patients are on 24 hour remote telemetry. Nurses on this floor may care for patients with diagnosis that include, but are not limited to, the following: anemia, chest pain, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cerebral vascular accident, drug overdose, pneumonia, syncope, vascular insufficiencies, and various post-ops.

The Cardiovascular PCU Unit (CVPCU) is a 65-bed unit that is divided into 2 wings; South and West. The unit focuses on step-down Cardiovascular Surgical open heart vascular patients.

The Cardiovascular ICU Unit (CVICU) is a 28-bed intensive care unit that cares for Surgical/post open heart surgical (cardiac, vascular and vascular surgery recovery) patients. The unit cares for pre-operative patients as needed.

CVIII is a 16 bed surgical intensive care area, servicing fresh vascular surgical patients and complex cardiac surgical patients. Diagnoses include but are not limited to triple A's, fem-pops, carotids, CABG, Valve repairs and any thoracic surgical patients needing upper level care.


Job Description
The Senior Nurse Technician is one who assists the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care by performing specific tasks under the direction of an RN to identified age specific groups.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
Basic Life Support

Education and Experience Required:
Entered the final semester of professional nurse education with documented skills from the school of nursing. Proof of satisfactory completion of first semester course and skills and continued enrollment in Professional Nurse Education.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
May use the title “Nurse Technician until ATT” (authorization to Test) is granted or unsuccessfully written State Board exam two times after graduation. UNIT INFORMATION

Our new surgical suite is currently under construction on the second floor of our new patient tower at Florida Hospital Altamonte. We are on schedule for an opening in early 2009. Our new 30,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art surgical suite includes: 6 ORs, 8 pre-op beds, 12 PACU beds, 10 private post-op beds, integrated Multi-media Operating Rooms, Platform for live surgical broadcasts, web-based education and instructional video production, international connectivity, and multiple education/conference centers.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Nurse Manager under administrative guidance is a registered professional nurse with global responsibility for the quality and continuity of patient care for specific age groups identified by the standards of care for the unit. The Nurse Manager provides leadership in the delivery of care and nursing practice within the clinical unit. The Nurse Manager participates in unit employee selection through interviewing and the hiring process. Directs orientation, training and education of new personnel and ongoing staff development. Assists Materials Manager with unit budget/cost containment and labor tracking. Assists in the development, implementation and tracking of unit based key Performance Indicators and P.I. Program.
