Job Description:
The Diabetes acute care Clinical Nurse Specialist is a masters-prepared registered nurse who acts as the primary resource to nurses for bedside complex diabetes management. Experience as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in diabetes and recent acute critical care experience is required. The Clinical Nurse Specilist utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Job responsibilites for the Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist position may include (but is not limited to) the following:
Is a resource to professional nursing staff for Diabetes patient care and point of care testing.
Teach Basic and Advance Diabetes Program and other offerings.
Supports the link between inpatient and outpatient Diabetes patient services.
Special Projects (as directed by Med/Surg and Nursing Education & Research Directors)
Responsible for Diabetes Collaborative Practice.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Education and Experience Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Masters in Nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist)
