Florida Hospital offers an Operating Room Nurse Internship Program for recently graduated (within 12 months) RN’s who wish to work in the Operating Room. The ORNIP is an 6-8 month program that encompasses 4 weeks of didactic training and 5-7 months of training in the clinical setting. During the program, Registered Nurses will learn the role of the circulating nurse and scrub nurse in various surgical specialties.

The following are required documents to be turned in to Human Resources as part of your ORNIP application:
• Completed online employment application
• ORNIP questionnaire
• Copy of your current Florida Nursing License
• Two reference forms completed by your Nurse Manager or Supervisor at your current and/or most recent positions
• Resume
• Copy of CPR certification (BLS for healthcare providers)

Unit Descrption:
With more than 50,000 surgeries performed annually at Florida Hospital, our perioperative nurses not only have the opportunity to care for diverse surgical patients, but they are also able to become familiar with advanced surgical equipment and procedures. Florida Hospital’s surgical specialties include cardiovascular surgery, peripheral vascular surgery, orthopaedic surgery (including total joint replacement), neurosurgery, opthamology, orthognathic surgery, plastic surgery, micro and limb reimplantation surgery, urology surgery, kidney transplantation, gynecology, otolaryngology, and general surgery, as well as laser surgery in many of these areas. Nurses can become specialized by scrubbing and circulating in a particular surgical area.
