As a Senior Nurse Technician in the Neuroscience Unit, you’ll work with a specially-trained team to care for patients after complicated spinal and brain surgeries. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to gain cutting-edge skills and become an expert in seizure disorders, as you care for patients admitted for advanced seizure monitoring. If you enjoy complicated cases and are excited by the opportunity to specialize in the Neurosurgical arena, you’ll thrive in this prestigious, fast paced unit.

The following is a list of our Neuroscience nursing units:

The Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCC) is an 18-bed unit dedicated to Neuro Critical Care that has a patient population comprised primarily of surgical patients, including spinal and brain surgeries, hemorrhagic pathologies, brain attack patients, medical neurological pathologies and seizures. Patients on this unit have come specifically for the specialized neuro services that Florida Hospital can provide.

The Neuro Medical Unit (NMU) is a 24-bed medical telemetry unit with a patient population that is comprised primarily of brain attack patients, Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA) patients and patients with other neurological disorders. The unit consists of semi-private rooms and has a calm and soothing environment to assist with patient recovery.

The Neuro Surgical Unit (NSU) is a 39-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit with a patient population that is comprised primarily of neuro surgical patients, including spinal and brain surgeries, seizures and other neurological pathologies. All rooms are private rooms and the unit is a highly visible and open nursing unit.

Job Description:
The Senior Nurse Technician is one who assists the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care by performing specific tasks under the direction of an RN to identified age specific groups.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
Basic Life Support

Education and Experience Required:
Entered the final semester of professional nurse education with documented skills from the school of nursing. Proof of satisfactory completion of first semester course and skills and continued enrollment in Professional Nurse Education.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
May use the title “Nurse Technician until ATT” (authorization to Test) is granted or unsuccessfully written State Board exam two times after graduation. The employee may remain as a Nurse Tech only the above length of time and only if a position is available and the employee has satisfactory evaluations.
