GENERAL SUMMARY:
The ALPN functions under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Practice Manager providing clinical and clerical services, including rooming patients, assisting with exams and procedures, performing waived lab tests, starting IV’s, taking verbal orders and administering medications. Functions as a Team Supervisor overseeing Medical Assistants and patient flow. Participates in the education of resident physicians. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practices.
Vital signs
Body Substance Isolation
Specimen collection
IV certification
Basic Life Support (All employees must obtain Basic Life Support by August 31st 2008. Effective for all new hires June 2nd, 2008)
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Pass basic clerical test and type a minimum of 24 words per minute
· Phone skills and etiquette
· Organizational skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Graduate of Licensed Practical Nursing school
· Current clinical experience
· Attainment of ALPN status according to established criteria
a. Satisfactory completion of Florida Hospital Advanced Pharmacology Peripheral/IV Therapy Course.
b. Completion of clinical orientation.
c. Completion of competency based packet.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
