Unit Description- Radiology nursing is a growing specialty. Here at Florida Hospital Orlando there is an opportunity to join this growing field, a chance to be involved in new technological procedures i.e. Neuro radiosurgery, uterine fibroid embolization, and peripheral stenting.
Nurses in Radiology prepare, assist, sedate, monitor, and recover patients for all type of Radiological procedures on the inpatient and the outpatient. The areas the nurse may assist in are Nuclear Medicine, CAT scan, Ultrasound, MRI, Diagnostic and Angio.
There is a twelve bed holding area and three soon to be four Angio suites within the main hospital, two neuro suites. These areas cover outpatients and inpatient. A large part of the nursing role is to provide comfort and safety to the patient having a radiological exam; this may include sedation, being their advocate, and as part of their continuum of care at Florida Hospital. It is an opportunity to work with many different types of patients who you may see again or just for that day or procedure. The holding unit is open Monday through Friday with flexible staffing hours available for coverage. A weekend option position and a person assigned to call covers on the weekend. We are closed on holidays with call personnel covering. It may be requested to cover call on these occasions; call positions cover Angio. We have a small group of nurses, tech assistants and a secretary who work close together. They work as a team with the Radiologists and radiographers in assisting each other.

POSITION SPECIFICS:
  • Registered Nurse
  • Full Time
  • 10 hour shifts
  • Days, 7a-5:30p
  • Call Required
REQUIRED:
  • Graduated from School of Nursing
  • BLS
  • Critical Care Training
  • 1 year minimum, critical care level experience.
  • Must be able to wear lead apron
PREFERRED:
  • ACLS and PALS
  • EKG Background
  • Bachelors Degree
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must project and promote courteous and cooperative public relations for our department and Florida Hospital.
  • Must have ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Must have the ability to communicate and cooperate well with technical staff, nursing staff, and physicians
  • Good organizational skills; creative, self motivated; problem-solving ability.
  • Manually apply moderate digital pressure for 10-60 minutes; pull sheaths;
  • Ability to function appropriately under stress.
  • Ability to perform all essential nursing functions.
  • Is able to set priorities for the numerous nursing care activities in caring for the critically ill.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
  • Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
· The RN is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
