GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision the Critical Care Transport RN will be responsible for the safe transport, of critically ill patients by ground, working jointly with the CCEMT-P, Flight RN and RT in patient care decisions. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


· Critical Care Nursing

· Basic computer skills

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

· Transport Nursing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Graduate of a Registered Nursing Program.

· Minimum of 3 years experience in the Emergency Department/Critical Care (CVICU/ICU/CL/CCU/NICU).

· Minimum of 4 years of patient care.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· BSN

· OB experience

· PEDS experience.


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:


· Current active license in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse.

LICENSURE OR REGISTRATRATION PREFERRED:

· CEN/CCRN

· CTRN

· Instructor status in one certification (ACLS/PALS)


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Demonstrates, through behavior, Florida Hospital’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork


· Completes and documents patient assessments, provides interventions with accurate administration and calculation of medications and the responses, as per department protocols’ and FH policy. Demonstrates specific knowledge in emergency care of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

· Adheres to safety requirements and applies caution remaining alert to hazards at all times, while transporting patients Demonstrates proficiency with radio communications and emergency procedures.

· Communicates patient updates to physicians and receiving units through dispatch for medical control.

· Completes timely patient care documentation for patient hand off and safety.

· Completes the department processes of shift briefings, debriefing and QA of charts for patient safety and improved outcomes.

· Supervises critical care transport team members ensure timely safe transport of patients.

· Proficiency in understanding and use of systems/equipments in the department to include but not limited to the EM system, recording system, Right Cad and GPS tracking.
