Job/Unit Description:

Responsible for providing nursing services and hyperbaric medicine treatments to both inpatients & outpatients of Florida Hospital. Provides care in accordance with accepted protocols relevant to physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs as appropriate to the age of the patient. Provides care on an emergency call basis in accordance with accepted protocols under the direction of Management and Medical Director. Responsible for providing care at the surface (sea level) as well as being the inside attendant, pressurized in the multiplace chamber, to depths as far as 165 fsw. Responsible for total patient care, wound debridement and dressing changes, venipunctures, etc.

Performs safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and system components such as, TcpO2 monitor, ventilator, and cardiac/pressure monitors.. Perform monoplace patient prep and Tx profile. Observes Best Practice guidelines/algorithms in the care of arterial, venous, neuropathic, and pressure ulcers. Understands the use of appropriate topical agents in support of wound healing. Performs treatments and administers medications. Identifies needs and plan of care. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions. Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the hyperbaric physician. Accurately administers medications such as: pressor and antiarrhythmic agents, cardiac drugs and antihypertensive drugs, pain management, antibiotics, and blood glucose control agents. Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities.

Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Maintain up-to-date information on NFPA, OSHA, JCAHO, and UHMS codes and facility credentialing requirements. Able to talk and hear while exposed to high gas pressurization with varying temperatures in a confined space. Exposure to high gas pressurization including increased levels of oxygen and nitrogen, therefore, ability to work may not be precluded by any inherent risk. Full-time, Day Position with variable days.
