The Fracture Care Center (FCC) provides care for patients with complex fracture and orthopaedic trauma cases, both pre and post operative. This unit is a 19-bed adult trauma orthopaedic unit. We serve patients from all over Florida with complex fractures requiring surgery. We work with a nationally recognized team of Orthopaedic Traumatologists to deliver care to patients with complex fracture and orthopaedic trauma cases. Our Fracture Care Center has state-of-the-art orthopaedic procedures, minimally invasive, limb salvage, and joint replacement procedures.
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 10-bed CARF Certified, acute-rehabilitation unit which specializes in speech, stroke, orthopaedic, back, spinal, hip, and knee care. It also focuses on neurological diseases/injury-CVA, TBI, and Brain Tumors. We also accept patients with other diagnosis, which limit the person’s ability to return home. All admissions are prescreened planned and must meet criteria to be accepted into the program including medical stability, the ability to tolerate 3 hours of therapy daily and have a solid discharge plan. Nursing works closely with the therapy staff that includes NeuroPsy, PT, OT, RT, Speech and Case Management.

The unit has a full time, Nurse Manager, four Assistant Nurse Managers covering days/nights, PCT assistance 24/7, and HUC coverage 7a-11p. Ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 depending upon the acuity of the patient. Educational support for staff is provided by a CV educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist. In addition, two preop educators are located on the unit to do bedside teaching for families and patients according to need. Staff has the opportunity to participate in the PPP (Professional Practice Program) similar to other hospitals with clinical ladders, train for relief charge duty and participate (if selected) to serve as preceptors and/or mentors for new nurses. The staff may also self-schedule. For nurses not trained in acute care, transitional education programs are available through Florida Hospital.
The CVIII Unit has been built within the past 5 years and has the latest in construction features. CVIII is connected to Florida Hospital Orlando via a new breezeway that has a visitor waiting room and private consultation room for families. Rooms are all private with glass sliding doors for maximum viewing of patients. Computers and desk top charting areas are available in each room for nursing documentation purposes. In addition, staff has access to a large staff lounge and private locker room.
Full time, Day Position. Minimum 1 year recent CVICU or 2 years minimum ICU experience required. Must have current Register Nurse Florida licensure.
